Ingredients

Traditional Pizza with Sausage and Peppers

  • 1 tbsp DeMassimo’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Prepared Dough Recipe - See Instructions
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese or Italian Cheese blend
  • .5 lb Sweet Italian Sausage
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper diced
  • 1 pnt DeMassimo’s Authentic Pizza Sauce

Pizza Dough

  • 2.5 cups Flour (Bread Flour or All-Purpose Flour)
  • 1 tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 tsp Instant Yeast or ½ Teaspoon Fresh Yeast

Instructions

Traditional Pizza with Sausage and Peppers

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.  Drizzle DeMassimo’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Sauté Italian Sausage over medium heat and dice Green Bell Pepper.
  • Press and stretch the Pizza Dough into the baking sheet, to be a large rectangle.  Dough may not fill the entire sheet.
  • Spread DeMassimo’s Authentic Pizza Sauce over the dough (may only use half pint, depending on your preference), leaving a 1-inch boarder around the edge.
  • Top with Mozzarella Cheese, Sausage and Green Pepper.
  • Bake the pizza until the crust is golden brown.  Let cool slightly, then cut into squares.

Pizza Dough

  • Combine the Flour, Salt and Yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment.  Stir to combine.
  • Add 1 Cup Water and mix on low speed until the dough comes together in a rough ball.
  • Continue mixing at medium-low speed until the dough forms a smooth, silky ball, about 10 minutes.
  • Form the dough into a tight ball, set in the bottom of the mixer bowl.  Cover tightly with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm place until the dough has roughly doubled in size. This will take about 1 hour.
